Ditransitive and Dative Constructions in English and Thai Languages

This article presents predominant views of the English and Thai ditransitive dative sentence structures that take verbs to have two major meanings based on schemata: a caused possession motion. The main purpose study was investigate associations between their event schemata, syntactic semantic realizations available structures, parallel sentences across languages. participants were pre-service teachers majoring in at university Thailand. conducted 2020 academic year. analyses demonstrated inference patterns verb arguments double object construction Thai. results also identified similarities differences with an account variant choices provided insightful explanations data crosslinguistic realm. Implications for educators revolve around individual other related variables might yield various results. findings suggest multidimensionality research into linguistic devices.
